The following is a note of the works already performed under the Vote "Gaol Extension".

(1) New Gaol, consisting of two Blocks which contain in all 158 separate cells and a good store-room, workshop and work-shed. The site is disconnected from the old Gaol except that communication between them is provided by a subway. Completed December, 1890.

(2) Matron's Quarters. These have been constructed within the confines of the Old Gaol by making certain alterations and additions to existing buildings. Completed October, 1896.

(3) The conversion of a portion of the Old Gaol into a Female Prison. Formerly female prisoners were confined in a dwelling house, entirely outside the Gaol but they are now lodged within it. Completed October, 1896.

(4) Miscellaneous minor works, such as a shelter for washing clothes under uniform set of locks on gates for yards, &c., Completed 1896.
